Annie, an adventurous 11-year-old girl, lives between separated parents and dreams of extended one-on-one time with mom. She negotiates to join mom on one of her many archeology work assignments, with hopes to make a disovery together. Part of that dream is about to come true—a summer project at the ruins of a Victorian castle in the Scottish Highlands. Then she discovers her special mom-time is being “hijacked”! Mom invited someone to join them. Annie's hopes of making a discovery on the castle grounds, with mom, fade. She pictures her dream adventure, and life at home, melting into disaster, losing her mom's affection, and what she knows as family.
